Anna Lea developed a love for the water after joining a Masters swim team in 1987. Besides participating in the “wet side” of swimming, she quickly got involved in the “dry side” through volunteer roles at the local, regional, and national levels of U.S. Masters Swimming and continues to serve as a volunteer at all of those levels today.
Her involvement in swimming made Anna Lea aware of the large number of adults who are fearful of the water. She recognizes the role that Miracle Swimming for Adults can play in helping those adults achieve their own love for the water and hopes to help the organization continue to provide that opportunity to as many adults as possible.
Originally from land-locked Merriam, Kansas, Anna Lea graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for more than 25 years in a variety of manufacturing facilities. She currently works for an online provider of swimming-related software.
Anna Lea and her husband, Jim, moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2009. They enjoy the opportunity to do year-round, open water swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.
