"What Are Your Prices?"
In each location, our price is different. It depends on the pool rent and the cost to send the instructor to class. Each course is 24 hours: eight 3-hour sessions of one hour on land followed by 2 hours in warm (enough) water.
Sarasota, FL: $1295 for the 5-day vacation class. Sarasota is our headquarters and home pool location.
San Francisco: $1445 for classes on four consecutive weekends
Palm Springs, CA: $1450 for the 5-day vacation class
New York City: $1545 for four sessions on each of two weekends
"Will I Be Glad I Took Your Beginning Class?"
Yes, virtually 100% of our students are. For perhaps the first time, you will be in a class with others who have the same questions you have: "How do I learn to feel safe in deep water? How do I stop myself from panicking when I'm in water over my head? How can I enjoy putting my face in the water and floating and getting out of a float, front and back? What are the secrets everyone else seems to know except me? How do I learn to be in control and to rely on myself for my safety rather than on the bottom or the side?"
You'll feel comfortable and safe all the time. We'll never ask you to do anything that might make you panic, or to do anything you don't want to do. You ask, "How can I learn if I never push myself to do anything I don't want to do?" The answer is, "The same way you learned to walk and talk." You will find your swimming unfolding in a natural, effortless way because you will start at the beginning and skip no steps.
You'll be met at your level and your questions will all be answered. There's no pressure and no hurry. You won't be told to relax! Yet you will naturally relax because you'll be hearing what you've always wanted to know. You'll have time to explore, experiment and practice, ask questions, and be spotted by a specially trained instructor or a spotter when you need assistance, which everyone gets. If you let yourself go at your own pace, you can't possibly fail. Have you ever heard of an adult swimming class with a money-back guarantee? We have one because we can.
"What Do You Cover?"
At your own pace, you'll learn how to be at ease in water and play; how the water works; how to let the water do the work for you; how to be yourself in the shallow and deep; how to move from here to there comfortably and without effort; how to keep water out of your nose; to put your face in, HAPPILY; to feel the water holding you up. You'll learn the nuts and bolts of preventing panic; you'll learn to float and stand up; to remain in control; to maneuver at will from back to front and change directions; that deep water holds you up; to replace your unwanted beliefs about water with beliefs you want; to begin to be the swimmer you're born to be. There's so much material in the Beginning class that it takes 24 hours. It's 8 three-hour sessions, one hour on land and 2 hours in a warmer-than-usual pool. Wetsuit vests are provided in Sarasota. Elsewhere, we recommend that you purchase one ($30). The Beginning class takes you as far as you can go in 24 class hours. Everyone learns a different amount. We cannot predict what you will know when you finish the Beginning class. In the Next Step class you continue to learn. The goal of our Beginning and Next Step classes combined is freedom in the deep: you can stay afloat calmly and move around in deep water as long as you wish. Sometimes this occurs in the Beginning class. After becoming free in deep water, it will be possible to learn strokes that are satisfying because you can breathe. All learning is at your own pace. There's no other Beginning class like this anywhere.
Miracle Swimming has flourished for 33 years because we remove all causes for worry, provide warm enough temperatures, start at the beginning and skip no steps....and because our 5 Circles model is infallible. It's built solely on having fun: your kind of fun. Countless references available: see our Student Comments page. Were you hoping this existed? People tell us it sounds too good to be true. You've found it. We've been teaching Miracle Swimming since 1983. If you need to be convinced, read our book.
What Is Swimming?
Knowing how to swim is knowing how to be comfortable in water over your head, confident, and in control. It's the ability to rely on yourself for your safety in water, shallow or deep; in the pool, lake, or ocean. You need to know how your body and the water work together, and how to remain in control. This is what adult non-swimmers are looking for. Though swimming can also be called performing formal strokes, learning to swim is not related to "arms and legs." Arms and legs are about learning to do strokes.
What's the Solution?
Thirty-eight years ago, as a traditionally trained swim instructor teaching a college beginning swimming class, M. Ellen Dash asked why the system was not working for ten of her twenty students. The answer was simple: with their attention on survival, they could not focus on swimming skills. A new system was required.
We hope you'll join us and find out what's possible in the world of swimming and adult beginning swim lessons. We lead the world.
Classes and Accommodations:
- Sarasota: we now have our own warm outdoor 6-lane, 25 meter pool, newly renovated. We also use hotels nearby in the winter months. Pool passes
- San Francisco Bay Area classes are for Bay Area residents.
- Vacation classes: we stay at hotels that have a warm pool associated with them (in most locations). Locations are chosen for their warm pools. Florida is chosen for its warm weather!
- Several times each year, the Beginning and Next Step classes are held back to back for people traveling to get the most from one trip. (Sarasota, FL and Palm Springs, CA)
- Couples and friends taking the class together: we have two ground rules we ask you to adhere to: please do not compete with each other during these 5 days of class. And please do not help each other in class.
"Why do you offer the Beginning class to local Sarasota residents for a lower cost?"
- Because, due to our national and international focus for 34 years and our relatively short time in Sarasota, Sarasota doesn't know about us yet. We've found that locals believe, "If it's based in my home town, it must not be special!" We want them to know Miracle Swimming from experience. As we make the local news and word gets out in Sarasota, this will change, as will the price.
