Learn Freestyle and turns in 7 days. Drills starting at square one (after you're completely comfortable in water) will build a freestyle that's simple and easy. If you don't get all the way there, you'll have the steps to complete the learning at home: the full stroke is attainable in a few hours of practice at home after class if you practice the right steps.
Our Beginning course is the prerequisite for this class. The better you "know" the water, the easier it is to learn strokes.
Arrive with fins. We recommend Sporti Floating Swim Fins or Aquasphere Zip VX Fins. Purchase them in time to try them on in the pool first and return them for another pair if they don't fit properly. At the pool, do some flutter kick if you know what it is (the kick that goes with freestyle). See if the fins stay on. See if they rub anywhere. Avoid hot spots: you may need to wear socks or moleskin for comfort.
Fins should be comfortable and a non-issue.
The Soda Aquatic pool is 3'6" to 5' in-depth.
You are eligible for this class once you're willing to try somersaults and handstands, bump into other people, and play in water. You must be completely comfortable! You should purchase a neoprene vest for this class. The Moraga pool is warm enough for learning freestyle: 86 degrees for this class.
We recommend that you stay in a hotel nearby so you can devote your week to swimming and absorbing information, and reduce the stress of commuting and household responsibilities.
Many people tell us they wish they'd had the advantage of reading our book, Conquer Your Fear of Water before class. Save time: read the book first.
